Nature Tells a Story

New Book Coming November 2024

My children and I enjoy getting outside after a long morning of lessons. Every year we look forward to collecting bits and pieces of nature from our backyard “our treasures”.

We dump them out on a large piece of white posterboard and begin making pictures with the items we’ve found. Before the wind blows our creations away, (warning: do not attempt this outside on a windy day, or this activity will only end in frustration and/or tears…. ask me how I know) we take a photo of our creations.

Usually we’d write a poem for our favorite pictures. But this time, we wanted to make an entire story. Weaving our illustrations together into a story. That’s exactly what we did with Nature Tells a Story. We created a poem based on the pictures that walk the reader through all of the seasons.

In the back of the book, we give you an inside look at how you can create your own nature illustrations. I hope it inspires you and your kiddos to get outside and look for “treasures” in your own backyard. You’ll be amazed at what they can come up with. Don’t forget to take a picture of each creation. Let me know if you have any questions, use the contact us page and reach out. I’d love to see what you and your kiddos come up with!

Happy Memory Making!
